Proper aftercare and preparation are essential for achieving the best results from your skin camouflage tattoo treatment, whether it's designed to conceal scars, stretch marks, burns, vitiligo, or other types of skin discoloration.

IN THE WEEK BEFORE YOUR SESSION YOU SHOULD:

  • Moisturize your skin to ensure it is in the best condition. Well-hydrated skin helps the pigment deposit evenly and improves healing. Drink plenty of water to support internal hydration.
  • Avoid any direct sun exposure. Sunburned or tanned skin cannot be tattooed. This could lead to poor pigment retention or even damage
  • Do not drink coffee, tea (black/green), alcohol on the day of treatment (they are working as a blood thinner)
  • Refrain from taking aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, or alcohol for 24–48 hours before your appointment. These substances may increase bleeding, which can interfere with pigment absorption.
  • Are not on their monthly cycle when they get tattooed
  • Pain Relief: paracetamol, taken around twenty minutes to half an hour pre-treatment session

FIRST 3 DAYS AFTER THE SESSION:

  • Avoid tight clothing! Bring to the session soft, natural fabric clothing that give you a room to move
  • Diligently follow the post-care instructions by applying cold compresses (ice cubes) to the camouflaged areas during the first three days. You can use an ice cube on the treated area up to three times a day — simply glide the ice cube gently over the tattooed skin for a few seconds, then pat the area dry with a clean tissue.
  • Keep the treated area dry for the first 3 days after your session.
Using an ice cube or gently splashing the area with water to keep the skin clean and fresh is completely fine. However, this means no spa, jacuzzi, sauna, or baths during this period.
When showering, keep it brief and avoid allowing water to run directly over the tattooed area — we want to prevent the scabs or flaking skin from softening or peeling off too early.

NEXT FIVE DAYS:

  • Try to wear something soft, from natural fabric and not too tight to avoid any pressure on your fresh tattoo area
  • Avoid touching or scratching the treated area, as this can increase the risk of infection or accidentally remove the flaking skin — which may lead to uneven healing and colour loss. Sloughing of the treated area is common – PLEASE DO NOT PICK
  • Keep makeup away from the pigmented area
  • Avoid sunbathing, as direct sun exposure can fade the pigment or alter its shade, especially during the healing phase.
  • Try to avoid excessive sweating.
High-intensity activities such as CrossFit or hot yoga should be postponed for at least 2 weeks after your session to allow proper healing and colour retention.

DO NOT PANIC LIST

  • Pigment will look dark after procedure (up to 2-3 weeks). Do not worry this is normal – color will FADE and SOFTEN
  • Swelling of the area will subside in 24-48 hours.
  • You may experience redness, tenderness and an itchy feeling
  • For Fitzpatrick skin types III–VI (richer skin tones), temporary pigmentation may occur after the treatment due to the skin’s melanin-rich nature.
This is a common response to any kind of trauma — from something as minor as an insect bite to a paper scratch. The skin may react by producing excess pigment in the treated area. This pigmentation typically fades on its own within 3 to 4 months, revealing the true healed result of your session.
Your next skin camouflage treatment can be safely performed once the pigmentation has fully resolved.
