Eyebrow Cosmetic Tattooing

Eyebrow cosmetic tattooing, also known as microblading, semi-permanent makeup, permanent makeup, or micropigmentation, is a technique that involves depositing pigment beneath the surface of the skin to create the appearance of fuller, more defined eyebrows.

Different names, same result: Whether you call it microblading, semi-permanent makeup, or permanent makeup, the goal of eyebrow cosmetic tattooing is the same: to enhance your natural eyebrows and give you a more polished look.

During the procedure, Dasha uses a small needle to implant pigment into the top layer of your skin between the epidermis and dermis layers. The pigment is chosen to match your natural hair color and skin tone, and the shape of your eyebrows is carefully designed to complement your facial features.

For eyebrows, Dasha uses certified, FDA-approved mineral, organic, and hybrid semi-permanent pigments. They are vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. These pigments have a different chemical composition than traditional tattoo ink, being a blend of minerals and organic pigments.

These pigments have excellent quality and stability – they don't change the color shade. This means that when you use a brown color, it will never turn blue, gray, red, purple, green, yellow, etc. The pigment simply fades gradually over time (2-5 years) to a brownish shade and eventually disappears.

Diving deeper, I'd like to explain the various methods available for eyebrow tattooing.

Both of these methods are used to create hair strokes and shading effect.

For eyebrow SPM I use a machine and professional, sterile Kwadrone needles

I don’t do Microblading (I will explain what Microblading is later).

My signature technique is soft, watercolour shading.

The watercolour technique is more subtle and soft than traditional ombré or powder brows methods. It creates a very natural-looking shade by resembling a delicate dusting of color. By applying more or less layers of pigment, we can achieve different levels of saturation and density.

The shading method works well on all skin types. It creates a soft, shaded look that appears natural and subtle once healed. Shading adds definition and depth to the brows, lasting from two to five years.

The retention depends on a number of factors, including skin type, age, lifestyle, health condition, sun exposure, etc.

On the day of your procedure, we will have a consultation to discuss your desired brows. Following the consultation, I will begin drawing the shape of your brows, allowing us to discuss different options together. I always follow the natural shape of the brow to enhance your natural beauty. We will collaborate on the shaping, styling, and color selection of your brows. I recommend starting conservatively with a thinner width and lighter color. This allows us to assess your skin's reaction and healing process before adding more density, adjusting the shape, or using darker pigment in a follow-up session. Once you approve the final design, we will proceed with shading your brows.

Color Selection

Choosing the perfect color for your cosmetic brow tattoo is crucial for natural-looking results. Here's how it works: Generally, we select a pigment that matches your existing brow hair color or is a maximum of 20% darker or lighter. This ensures a seamless blend and a natural appearance. However, if you're drawn to a pigment more than 30% darker than your natural brow hair color, be prepared to regularly tint your brows. This ensures your brows and tattoo remain color-matched

Design

The design of your cosmetic brow tattoo begins with your natural brow shape. We can place the pigment within your existing hair growth or extend it slightly on the sides for a fuller appearance.

If you have lost brow hair, no need to worry! I can easily draw a custom shape based on your unique facial features, including the anatomy of your eyes and the structure of your orbital bone.

If you're not entirely happy with your natural shape, there's no need to worry! I'll carefully analyze your facial features and create a few design options to showcase how your brows could look with slight adjustments. The key lies in playing with the density of the color. By strategically placing accents and subtly shaping the brows, I can emphasize your natural beauty and create a look that perfectly complements your features.

Remember, the goal is not to completely alter your natural brow shape but to enhance it and achieve a more balanced and harmonious appearance.

Is Cosmetic Tattoo Painful?

Eyebrow cosmetic tattooing is surprisingly less painful than you might think. In fact, most clients find it less uncomfortable than hair plucking!

Of course, individual pain tolerance varies. To ensure a comfortable experience for all clients, I offer FDA-approved, medical-grade numbing cream.

This numbing cream contains Lidocaine, Tetracaine, and Synthetic Adrenaline, which work together to effectively block pain signals and provide optimal comfort throughout the procedure.

Right After The Treatment

Immediately following the procedure, your brows will appear darker and bolder, which is normal during the initial healing process that can last up to a week or a little longer. During the second week, you may experience some flaking of the skin. It's crucial not to pick or peel at the dry skin, as this can cause premature pigment loss. Allow the flaky skin to come off naturally on its own. The flaking period varies from person to person, but generally, all flaky skin is shed approximately by the end of the second week. Once the dry skin has fallen off, your brows will appear softer and lighter. The complete healing process takes about four weeks, at which time the true color and density of the brows are clearly revealed. During the follow-up touch-up, adjustments can be made, if necessary.

What is the aftercare like?

The healing process is very simple. Depending on your skin type, age, and medical history, you will receive personalized aftercare instructions.

Basic Recommendations:

 1. Immediately after treatment: Gently wipe your brows several times with a cotton pad or wet napkin dampened with water to remove any plasma your skin may produce.
 2. Next day: Cleanse your brows with water 3-4 times a day.
 3. Subsequent days: Gently splash water on your brows and wipe them dry only in the morning and evening.
 4. Moisturizing: No creams are generally required for healing. However, if your skin feels very dry on the tattooed area, apply a thin layer of moisturizer without leaving any excess.
 5. Retinol and Acids: Avoid using retinol or acid-based products on the brow area during the healing process.
 6. Makeup: Abstain from applying any makeup on your brows for 2 weeks following the procedure.
 7. Spa and Sauna: Avoid visiting spas or saunas for the first month, as hot temperatures and steam can negatively affect the healing process.
 8. Sun Exposure: Avoid tanning beds and direct sun exposure for 3 weeks to prevent the pigment from fading or changing color.
 9. The follow-up touch-up is usually within 4-8 weeks, and it's included in the initial session cost. During the touch-up, we can add more definition and density, and make other adjustments as necessary.
More info here

Some information about Microblading
What is it? Microblading is making hairlines with a blade that is attached to a handtool, which looks like a pen. The pigment is then put into the microscars.

I do not do Microblading because it causes permanent microscars, which is not safe for the skin. After the healing the pigment becomes blurry and patchy, as the skin can’t keep the thin lines.

The photo illustrates micro scarring on the skin, a potential side effect of the microblading method.
