Scalp Micropigmentation for Women — A Long-Lasting Hair Loss Solution
Receive a 50-100% discount on your Scalp Micropigmentation treatment through a government subsidy program.
What Is Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)?
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical cosmetic tattoo procedure that replicates the natural appearance of hair follicles on the scalp. Using micro-needles and specially formulated pigments, SMP creates the look of fuller hair, improved density, and a restored hairline — without surgery or medication.
This technique is suitable for both men and women experiencing various types of hair loss, from mild thinning to complete baldness. It can also effectively camouflage scars from hair transplants or injuries.
Why Choose SMP Instead of Hair Powders or Growth-Stimulating Injections?
Many clients come to us after trying temporary or ineffective solutions such as scalp powders or injection treatments for hair growth.
Here’s how SMP stands out:
1. Reliable, Long-Lasting Results
Hair growth injections often promise visible improvement, but in reality, most patients see little to no long-term change. In contrast, Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) delivers immediate and lasting visual results after just three sessions — no waiting for months and no uncertainty.
The treatments are spaced 10–14 days apart.
At Dasha Cosmetic & Medical Tattoo Clinic, we provide a complimentary check-up within six months of the last session to ensure the SMP has healed well and to perform a touch-up if needed.
Your SMP results can last for 3–6 years before a refresh may be required.
2. Safe and Skin-Friendly
Scalp powders might seem convenient, but with prolonged use they can clog pores, irritate the scalp, and even accelerate further hair loss. Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) avoids all of these issues — the pigments are placed beneath the skin, allowing it to breathe naturally.
For SMP treatments, we use specialized pigments specifically formulated for scalp procedures, which are very different from regular tattoo inks.
At our clinic, we work with Follicule pigment (made in the USA) and Aurum pigment (made in the EU). When selecting the pigment and shade, we carefully consider each client’s skin tone and natural hair colour to create a customised, seamless result.
Over time, the pigment gradually lightens — it does not turn blue or grey like traditional tattoo ink — and typically fades naturally over 3–6 years, leaving no residue on the skin.
If needed, the pigment can be safely removed using laser or non-laser tattoo removal techniques.
3. Natural Appearance for Every Type of Hair Loss
The most common SMP request is hairline density enhancement, but for more advanced hair loss patterns, we also treat the crown area to create a balanced, realistic look.
SMP is particularly effective for alopecia, as it allows us to blend and “tan” the bald patches, reducing the contrast between hair and skin.

In Summary
SMP offers a safe, predictable, and long-lasting alternative to temporary concealers and unproven growth treatments.
Whether you’re looking to rebuild a natural hairline, increase density, or restore confidence after medical hair loss, Scalp Micropigmentation provides realistic and life-changing results.
SMP for Medical Conditions — Ministry of Health Subsidy
This program qualifies individuals with permanent or temporary hair loss who meet the government subsidy program’s criteria. Further details and eligibility checks will be provided during your consultation at Dasha Cosmetic Tattoo Studio.
At Dasha, we offer 50-100% discounts to eligible clients who suffer from significant hair loss due to a medical condition or certain cancer therapies. To qualify, your specialist or GP will need to provide you with a current medical certificate, details of your hair loss condition, and its permanence or temporary nature.
Who it’s for? You may claim for this service if you:
- are a New Zealand citizen, or are ordinarily resident in New Zealand; and
- have a medical condition that has caused you to lose your hair (like treatment for cancer, alopecia or other scalp conditions that cause hair loss).
Further information will be provided during your consultation. We are pleased to assist you with completing the necessary documentation and providing any required files from our end. However, please note that the subsidy application is your responsibility. We do not work directly with the Ministry of Health; our role is to provide the information they require.
During your consultation, we will explain the specific information that should be included in the medical certificate from your GP to support your subsidy application. Please be aware that if your GP does not provide a sufficient diagnosis of hair loss, the Ministry of Health may decline your subsidy application.
Therefore, we cannot accept responsibility for your GP's medical assessment or the final decision made by the Ministry of Health. Our sole role is to provide the scalp micropigmentation service.
