Scarred Latex Practice Skin
Driven by the need for better training materials, I, a medical tattoo tutor, have always sought synthetic skin that mimics scar tissue to effectively teach my students how to work on various scar types. Here's the story behind my leap into production...
On New Year's Day, I ordered MedArt's scarred skin, the only practice skin with scars available on the market at the time. Unfortunately, communication with this Texas-based company was very disappointing. After two months of difficulties, I decided to create my own scarred skin – no need to depend on the other business!
It took a month to acquire molds and create the desired scar tissue texture on them. I also had to source medical-grade silicone and wait for its delivery from Asia and Europe. Finally, I conducted tests and experimented with making the scar tissue lighter than the base color, allowing tattoo artists to practice color-matching skills.
And now, I'm thrilled to present my own product – scarred skin designed and made in New Zealand!
All scar skins are handcrafted by me and are color-adjustable. This allows tattoo artists to practice various methods of skin camouflage for conditions like surgical scars, skin grafts, self-harm scars, vitiligo, and stretch marks.
In the spirit of innovation, I'm also developing a mold for practicing nail bed reconstruction tattoos. Stay tuned for more exciting products!
These practice scarred skins are currently available for pre-order only. I can handcraft them for you within a week. If you'd like to get one, please get in touch.
Kind regards,
