Putting Your New Skills into Practice
Building Confidence Through Practice:
While the training provides a strong foundation, consistent practice is key to mastering your skills. To retain the knowledge and confidence gained during the training, it's recommended to begin practicing on models as soon as possible, ideally after the initial two days.
Practice Makes Perfect:
Practice Makes Perfect: Building Your Skills with Models
Finding models to practice on allows you to solidify your technique, build confidence, and gain valuable experience in a safe environment. This prepares you for working with full-paying clients in the future.
When starting, consider offering a discounted rate to models, typically in the range of $100-$400 per treatment. The exact price depends on the specific treatment you're providing. It's important to research market rates in your area to ensure your pricing is fair.
Professionalism and Value:
Remember, cosmetic and medical tattoo treatments are premium procedures. While offering a discount to models is acceptable during the learning phase, avoid providing completely free services. This establishes your value as a professional and helps manage expectations for future paying clients.
Support During Your First Client Session:
If you're located in Christchurch, Dasha offers additional support during your very first client session at your studio. This includes assisting with pigment selection, providing recommendations on your treatment room setup, and answering any questions you may have.
Travel Support (Outside Christchurch):
For trainees located outside of Christchurch, additional support during your first client session is also available. Please note that travel and accommodation expenses will apply in these cases.

Can I go for advance training if I'm an experienced beautician but don't have experience with cosmetic tattooing?
Your knowledge and experience as a beautician will be valuable in your journey to becoming a cosmetic tattoo artist. However, as you are not yet qualified in cosmetic tattooing, you will need to complete the Beginners Course first. This will provide you with the essential foundation and skills necessary to excel in the Advance Training.
Can I invite my staff to attend my one-on-one training?
No, one-on-one training is strictly private and limited to the trainer, student, and model. If you'd like to train your staff, you can book a group training session where Dasha will work with each student individually, addressing their specific skills and needs.
Can I learn Paramedical Tattoo or Scalp Micro without any experience in tattooing?

Please contact us with your individual request to receive a personalized quote.
Will I have a live model for the training?
While we strive to provide a live model for every training session, model availability may vary. If we cannot secure a suitable model for your training date, we kindly request that you make arrangements to find your own model.
It is recommended to choose someone you are comfortable working with, allowing you to effectively assess the healing process and conduct follow-up sessions.
If a live model is unavailable, practice on latex will be performed using patent medical-grade silicone skin that is identical to human skin.
When is my invistitin on my training is pay off?
The answer is simple: you need clients! If you're already in the beauty industry: Share with your existing clients about your new service offering. An existing clientele can significantly help recover your training costs within the first few months. If you're new to the beauty industry: Create a social media page to showcase your training and document your journey into the cosmetic tattoo industry. This can gradually build interest and attract potential clients. However, be prepared for a potentially longer timeframe to recoup your investment.
Be prepared for additional expenses: The first year in practice can involve more spending than you anticipate. From diverse pigments and needles to specialized equipment, there will be tempting new tools to explore. Factor these potential costs into your budget. Can I reschedule or cancel my training?
Yes, you may reschedule your training once. Please note that the deposit for the training is non-refundable. If you choose to cancel your training, the deposit will be forfeited.
License, certification, accreditation
Currently, New Zealand lacks a national accreditation or registration process for the tattoo and cosmetic tattoo industry. This means anyone can purchase equipment, take an online course, and label themselves a tattoo artist or even a trainer. The concern lies not just in the lack of formal qualifications, but also in the potential for outdated or inadequate training.
Finding Quality Training: Beyond Fresh Ink
So, how do you ensure you receive quality training that prepares you for a successful career? Here are some key points:
Experienced Instructors: Look for instructors with at least five years of experience working in the tattoo industry, with a proven track record of producing high-quality, healed results. Fresh tattoos can look good, but healed results are the true testament to an artist's skill and technique.
Ongoing Training: Seek instructors who are committed to their own professional development by regularly attending training themselves. This ensures they stay updated on the latest techniques, safety protocols, and industry best practices.

‼️Here’s What I Want to Share with My Students and Potential Entrants:
⭕️Your initial training is only the beginning. For a smoother and faster start, ensure you receive a high-quality education that provides a deep understanding of the fundamentals. Once you’ve obtained proper training and begun your practice, don’t delay in seeking opportunities to enhance your skills further. Stagnation at the beginner level can occur if you wait too long.
⭕️If you received training from an inexperienced instructor and now lack the confidence to work on clients, don’t hesitate to do your research and revisit the fundamentals.
⭕️Even experienced artists sometimes need a boost. If you’ve been in the industry for a while but aren’t achieving the results you want for your clients, advanced training can help. A master can assess your skills and point out areas for improvement.
👩🎓My experience and expertise allow me to provide comprehensive fundamental courses for beginners and help experienced artists step up and improve their own technique.
